From 12 to 19 October, CLOSE-UP - Famalicão Film Observatory returns to the agenda of the Casa das Artes de Famalicão and the Narciso Ferreira Theatre, under the motto Memories of the Future. The 9th episode of this cinema showcase features more than 30 screenings of contemporary productions crossed with the history of cinema.
The opening session, in the Grand Auditorium of the Casa das Artes de Famalicão, on 12 October at 9.45pm, features Portuguese singer Surma, who was commissioned to create an original soundtrack for the film The Andalusian Dog (1929, 18 min), by Luis Buñuel and co-written by Salvador Dalí. After the film-concert, Surma presents her new disc ‘alla’ in a trio format, accompanied by João Hasselberg and Pedro Melo Alves.
To her universe of jazz songs, electronica and a multiplicity of influences, the artist adds the freshness of a new aesthetic and a renewed, intense and free sound.
CLOSE-UP is the highlight of Casa das Artes de Famalicão's annual cinema programme and includes film concerts, themed cycles, commentary sessions, masterclasses, family sessions, an exhibition in partnership with the Jean Loup Passek Cinema Museum and a vast programme for schools.
The full programme for the 9th episode of CLOSE-UP will be announced by Casa das Artes de Famalicão in September.
