Famalicão Trails
This circular route, with a length of 15.4 km, is intended for the general public and is based on the region's historical and scenic component, seeking to enhance the religious and natural heritage.
Starting at the Church of Riba de Ave, and according to the recommended direction (clockwise), the route leaves the village, crossing the river Ave by the bridge next to the market to meet various points of interest: Capela de S. José, Church of S. Mateus de Oliveira, and Monastery of Oliveira Santa Maria, where the climb begins to the Chapel and Monte de Santa Tecla, providingexcellent views over the territory of Riba de Ave.
The return to the village is made by Pedome, and upon reaching the Leisure Park of Calça Ferros, the route follows the river to the weir area and azenhas do Ave, an area of high scenic and cultural interest, climbing back to the starting point.
You can start the trails in 3 different places: Riba de Ave, Monastery of Oliveira de Santa Maria or Leisure Park of Calça Ferros.
This route may be inaccessible in the Açude and Azenha area in periods of heavy rain and intense flow.
