Vila Nova de Famalicão has been strengthening the bonds of cooperation and sharing with other cities around the world, implementing the strategy for Urban Diplomacy. In the international context, the cities of Liverpool (United Kingdom), Fort Collins (USA) and Binzhou (China) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Famalicão.

Liverpool – United Kingdom

Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two cities on the 19th February 2019, strongly focused on the main cooperation areas:
- Cooperation between Business Incubators;
- Business cooperation;
- Talent attraction;
- Partnership with two Universities: Liverpool John Moores University and Hope University.

Fort Collins – USA

Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two cities on the 22nd October 2020, strongly focused on the main cooperation areas:
- Sustainability;
- Sustainable Urban Mobility;
- Urban and land planning;
- Co-creation of communitarian projects.

Binzhou – China

Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two cities on the 28th April 2021, strongly focused on the main cooperation areas:
- Trade;
- Investments;
- Industry;
- Circular Economy;
- Health;
- Culture;
- Sports.
