In the next school year, the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão will continue to support families in the municipality whose children study in the 1st Cycle by awarding vouchers for the purchase of school supplies and workbooks for Portuguese, Maths, Study of Social Environmental and English.
The support, approved at Thursday's executive meeting, translates into an investment of around 183,000 euros - 148,000 euros for the purchase of workbooks and 35,000 to help families and students in classes A, B and C to buy school supplies.
As far as school supplies are concerned, this year the municipality has decided to increase the value of the gift vouchers by around 20%, rising to 24 euros for classes A and B and 12 euros for class C.
As for workbooks, it should be noted that the municipality offers this material to the groups that have requested it, depending on the internal decision on whether or not to use this type of material.
As a result, all 1st cycle students at the Camilo, D. Maria II, D. Sancho I, Gondifelos and Padre Benjamim Salgado School Groups will receive Portuguese, Maths and Environmental Studies workbooks, while English workbooks will also be given to 3rd and 4th year students. Students in the 1st and 2nd years of school at the Terras do Ave School Group will receive activity books for Portuguese, Maths and Environmental Studies, with the English activity book also being offered to students in the 3rd year.
In order to purchase the activity books and school supplies, parents will receive an SMS message with the voucher code to the telephone number associated with the student or by consulting their personal area on the SIGA platform. For students registered and validated after the deadline, vouchers will be issued from 1 September.
The list of stationery shops/bookshops in the borough where these gift vouchers can be used will soon be available at www.famalicaoeducativo.pt.
