Co-production Eixo do Jazz Association and Casa das Artes de Famalicão
Casa das Artes - Grand Auditorium | 21h30
Entry: 4 euros. Students, Cultural Quadrilateral Card and Seniors (aged 65 and over): 2 euros | Duration: 60 min (plus 30 min of conversation wiht the public)
28th October
Ricardo Toscano - Saxophone
João Pedro Coelho - Piano
Romeu Tristão - Double Bass
João Lopes Pereira - Drums
Ricardo Toscano Quartet
Ricardo is considered, since the age of 21, not only a "hope" but someone who is having an impact in the present. The practiced jazz is "mainstream", with no concern for innovation and much less for experimentation, but such is the freshness, energy, delivery and personality given to the themes, "standards" included, that the Ricardo Toscano Quartet has won unanimous applause. In the frame of these, and supported by a rhythm section in permanent combustion, Toscano's alto flies with the nimbleness and agility of an eagle.
29th October
João Guimarães - Saxophone
Miguel Ramos - Electric Bass
Marcos Cavaleiro - Drums
HITCHPOP is an intersection between three directions of its own, insinuating itself into the ear with a seductive naturalness that dilutes barriers and takes erudition to the sweet universe of pop. The trio that brings together João Guimarães, Marcos Cavaleiro and Miguel Ramos sounds like inevitability, boldly occupying the free space between rock and jazz and moving through time with the aplomb of someone who sets his own clock.
30th October
Diego Alonso - Saxophone
Virxilio Da Silva - Guitar
Xan Campos - Piano
Pablo Patiño - Double Bass
Antón Quintela - Drums
Diego Alonso Quintet
The Galician saxophonist Diego Alonso brings together in his quintet long-established Galician jazz musicians who have in common a great relationship with the Portuguese jazz world and collaborate with musicians and bands from both sides of the river Minho. With compositions by Diego and his stage mates, a new and involving sound is expected from this concert, the first of its kind.
