After three years away from the big screen, Kong Kar-wai is back with "In the Modd for Love", a romantic melodrama set in Hong Kong in the sixties, with a slower pace than "Chungking Express" and "Fallen Angels", two of his best known films. In a nostalgic tone and with a strong fatalistic component, Kar-wai portrays the Hong Kong society of that time, faithfully recreating its musical atmosphere. The narrative thread follows the lives of Chow Mo-wan, a journalist, and Su Li-zhen, a secretary. On exactly the same day, they move into the same building with their spouses. Their constant absence and the discovery of a betrayal leads the journalist and the secretary to get closer to each other and become "in the mood for love".
