Edmundo and Marivaldo are characters in these Immoral Portraits. On stage, they share a loneliness known to many, dwellers of deserted islands and landscapes of agglomerations. Totally opposite characters, two unknown, different men, each with their own story. Gradually, we realise that there is something strange that brings them together: loneliness, the will to live and to invent their lives. The two monologues are united in a single show by invisible thread of poetics in the reverse sides of two souls, purposely abandoned, in the universe of the absurdity of human loneliness. Edmundo, the character in the first story, took a "job" as a lighthouse keeper on an island after falling out of love. He relives the drama of affectivity, masculinity and being accepted or not. Edmundo's duty is to light a lighthouse that must guide unknown sailors. He sheds light on the darkness, tries to lighten the darkness of himself and others. They are portraits of contradictions, unexplained opposites, and the residue of tides, storms and sunsets. Marivaldo, the character in the second story, is female, his delicate soul touched by the absurd memories of his mother, who died in a car accident when he was a child. Marivaldo harbours feelings of guilt over his mother's death and is tormented by memories and hallucinations. He seeks his fulfilment by painting portraits in lamp soot. We share solitudes filled with emptiness and images reinvented in poetic intervals.

"Immoral Portraits" is performed by actor João Guisande, who won Best Actor at the 2018 Braskem Theatre Awards for his performance in this show, and directed by Moncho Rodriguez. The play, which is constructed in a lyrical, ironic and humorous way, is a stage adaptation of two different narrative texts by Ceará author Ronaldo Correia de Brito, the short stories "Mãe em Fuligem de Candeeiro" and "Mãe numa Ilha deserta".
