Sérgio de Souza Sampaio (Paulo Azevedo) was born in Minas Gerais (Brazil) and all his life he worked at the Companhia Industrial de Cataguases. When, owing to circumstances, he finds himself without a job, without his wife and without his son, he decides to turn his life around and emigrate to Portugal. That is how he arrives in Lisbon, in search of work opportunities and full of hope for a better life. But what he will find is something very different from what he imagined: jobs are scarce and the few vacancies that remain are badly paid. Far from his family and the country where he was born, he will have to face loneliness, contempt and the strangeness of a people very different from his own. A co-production between Brazil and Portugal, "Estive em Lisboa e Lembrei de Você" is the film adaptation of Luiz Ruffato's novel of the same name. Directed and written by José Barahona ("Buenos Aires Hora Zero", "O Manuscrito Perdido"), a Portuguese filmmaker living in Brazil.
