Based on the text "Once Five Years Have Passed" by the Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, "I am Lorca" is a show about being an artist during a dictatorial regime and about freedom in the contemporary arts.
A journey from SURREALISM to REALISM, from THEATRE to METATHEATRE. A play about time - PAST/PRESENT/FUTURE. This work by the author is part of the TRILOGY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE THEATRE alongside the plays "The Audience" and the unfinished play "The Untitled Comedy". A play whose time passes in the suspension of chronological time - KAIROS - which consists of a time in which it never becomes present. Contrary to what is proposed in the author's version - we propose a dramaturgical structure from surrealism to realism, from the past to the future, from theatre to meta-theatre. A tragicomic work that aims not only to challenge the autonomy of the self in the face of the inexorable that oppresses it, but also in a game of mirrors between characters.
Note: On the same day, there will be a round table discussion on "Freedom and Artistic Creation" with Diogo Freitas and Plataforma Artes Performativas Sobre o Palco, at 6pm in the café-concert.
