In 1979, horse breeder Mike Milo, who was once a rodeo star but is now finished, is hired by his ex-boss to travel through Mexico to rescue his son. This is the premise of this adaptation of the novel by N. Richard Nash, published in 1975. The film stars and is directed by Clint Eastwood, who is joined by newcomer Eduardo Minett in the role of the kid he has to pick up and also country singer-songwriter Dwight Yoakam. The script was written by Nash before he died in 2000 and workshopped by Nick Schenk, who had previously written "Gran Torino" and "The Mule" for Eastwood.
