City Council of Famalicão joins a consortium to promote intelligent water management in the textile and clothing industry
01-02-2023
Vila Nova de Famalicão is one of the partner municipalities of GIATEX Consortium - Intelligent Water Management in the Textile and Clothing Industry (ITV), composed by nearly three dozen national institutions, with the purpose of responding to the challenges faced by textile manufacturing companies, in terms of specific water consumption and to support the decision on the final destination of water.
The adhesion of Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipality was approved in the City Council meeting last 26 January, and its involvement refers to the awareness and dissemination of the agenda developed by the consortium.
A total of 27 members integrate this project, namely institutions linked to research and higher education, textile and clothing companies, and the local authorities of Famalicão and Santo Tirso.
The consortium's objective is the implementation of a mobilising agenda entitled 'GIATEX - Intelligent Water Management in ITV', whose lead promoter is Estamparia Adalberto, with the technical coordination of CITEVE - Centro Tecnológico Têxtil e Vestuário, and the project is framed and financed within the scope of Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan.
