Cinemateca Portuguesa is collecting amateur films from April 25, 1974

30-01-2024
"Did you film 25th of April?" is the question posed by Cinemateca Portuguesa - Museu do Cinema and the 50 Years of 25 April Commemorative Commission, with the aim of safeguarding and disseminating film heritage related to the day of the Carnation Revolution.

The national campaign to collect amateur films, "Did you film the 25th of April?", is aimed at anyone who has unpublished footage on small format film - 9.5 mm, 16 mm, 8 mm and Super 8 - that depicts daily life during this period in Portugal's history.

The films can be deposited or donated to the Cinemateca Portuguesa. The deposit does not transfer ownership of the materials and can be cancelled by the depositor at any time.

Once received, the films will be identified and catalogued and, if their state of preservation allows it, digitised and a copy offered to the owner.

More information about the amateur film collection campaign is available on this website.
